Meet Our Team at 1831 Media

Anthony Breen

Founder & CEO

In early 2023, Breen, a 2014 Xavier grad and successful entrepreneur, had the idea to start a sports media company. He wanted to create content around notable sports figures with prominent followings, giving them a platform to connect directly with their audience. The 1831 Media Network began with the Sean Miller Podcast, and after the first year, 1831 has added two more shows in addition to renewing the Sean Miller Podcast for two more years through the 2025-26 season. Breen, a 2024 Cincinnati Business Courier C-Suite Finalist, is also the Founder & CEO of Synergistic, a full-service marketing agency that was recently named the fifth fastest growing company in Cincinnati.

Josh Sempsrott

Director of Production

Sempsrott's spent the last decade working in media as a producer and editor. From developing and producing feature documentaries, producing daily shows, and operating a camera covering live sporting events, Sempsrott's a well-rounded part of our team who excels in directing photography, sound editing, production, lighting, content creation, and video editing.

Gabe Ryan

Producer & Editor

A 2025 Xavier University graduate, Ryan gained early experience working on the production and broadcast teams for the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and Xavier athletics. He now serves as a producer and editor for The Pitino Show and The Rebound Rundown, while also creating social content and contributing to 1831’s feature-length documentaries.

DJ Hodge

President

Hodge joined 1831 following a successful tenure as Division President at iHeart. He serves on several community boards, including Hoxworth, St. Vincent de Paul, Meals on Wheels, and BT Rise. A proud ambassador for the American Cancer Society’s Men Wear Pink campaign, Hodge is also an avid golfer and reader who enjoys spending time with his two children, Cooper and Riley.

Paul Fritschner

Broadcaster, Host & Content Creator

A 2019 Xavier University graduate, Fritschner has extensive experience as a podcast host, producer, broadcaster, and digital content creator. Fritschner started broadcasting games as a student in 2016, and he's since evolved into an in-arena host, podcaster and content creator for the Big East Digital Network. In 2022, Paul launched a top 50 college basketball podcast called The Rebound Rundown.
